Marshmallow

Colleen writes:
Slippery elm is absolutely, positively illegal. Lots of naturopaths and alternative docs like to push these mucilagenous herbs - slippery elm, marshmallow, kudzu, arrowroot, etc., on the theory that they "coat the intestine." Well, they're also loaded with starch. Might make you feel better temporarily, but in the long run they are nothing more than food for pathogens. Very bad idea.
