Allspice

Tanya writes:
As long as you're just using Allspice as a cooking spice, it's legal. The
oil from it can help with toothaches, much like clove oil. I also found
this:

"Allspice is on the Food and Drug Administration's list of herbs generally
regarded as safe for external use, though its highly concentrated oil should
never be swallowed. Ingesting as little as 1 teaspoon can cause nausea,
vomiting and even convulsions." .... but if you have eczema or other
inflammatory skin conditions, you're not supposed to use the oil on you
skin.

Also, the active ingredient, eugenol, while an antioxidant in smaller doses,
is actually becomes carcinogenic as you increase the dosage. The problem
is, nobody knows where that threshold is, and apparently, it can differ
significantly from person to person.
