  U.S. Standard to Metric conversions

While most of the world uses the metric system, the United States is still using what is referred to as the 'U.S. Standard' system for measurement. This causes a lot of frustration when recipes are shared between people from different countries.

Be confused and frustrated no more! The SCD measurement conversion table is here!

  Metric defined

According to Epicurous.com, Metric is "A system of weights and measures that's used throughout much of the world. The basic units are the gram for weight and the meter for length. When calculating conversions, the same figure (0.236) is used whether converting to or from metric. The only difference is that, when converting to metric (as from cups to liters), you multiply the number of cups by 0.236 to get the equivalent in liters. When converting from metric (as from liters to cups), you divide the liters by 0.236 to get the cup equivalency.

Josh Madison has created a free software program called "Convert". Convert is an easy to use unit conversion program that will convert the most popular units of distance, temperature, liquid and solid volume, time, speed, mass, power, density, pressure, energy and many others, including the ability to create custom conversions!
