Kohlrabi

writes:
I
had to refresh my mind about kohlrabi. I have listed turnips in "not
allowed" part
of my book because of reports from people that they did not agree
with them. Since kohlrobi is a cross between the cabbage family
and the turnip family, it is one of those foods that should
not be tried until well into the diet and doing well. Then
it should be introduced slowly. The chemistry of turnips is a life
study. They were not eliminated by Dr. Haas and when I have
cooked the big yellow ones, they appear to be mainly water
(and delicious) thereby making them an allowable vegetable. However,
I have also had turnips that were different, more like a potato.
In a nutshell, I don't have a black and white answer for you but
since turnips are out, I would think kohlrabi is out as well.
