SCD makes a dramatic change in the type of bacteria in the body. It starves the bad bacteria (by elimination of disaccharides and polysaccharides) and introduces good bacteria through the consumption of probiotics or fermented foods. Instead of pathogenic bacteria, there now exist beneficial ones.

This website contains research articles that show how bacteria can cause digestive problems and how we can control the bacteria. Please read the articles by clicking on the links at the left of this website.

The Importance of Bacteria

Humans tend to underestimate the incredible influence of gut bacteria in our bodies.

* The human gut contains ten times more bacteria (1014) than the total number of cells in the entire human body.

* The total number of genes in the gut flora is estimated at 50–100 times the size of the human genome.

* The metabolic activity of the intestinal flora is considered to be equal to that of the liver.[1]

When our gut flora changes from friendly to pathogenic, the results can be disastrous. Articles in the best medical journals such as the one that appeared in JAMA (Journal of the American Medical Association) document how pathogenic microorganisms in the gut can create serious digestive problems:
